Antelope Island day trip packing list

Antelope Island State Park is one of the best day trips in Davis County. The causeway is about twenty minutes from Layton, and the island has trails, beaches and wildlife viewing all year.

Sun and comfort

Good sunglasses with UV400 lenses. The water and white salt flats reflect a lot of light.
Sunscreen, a hat and more water than you think you need. There is little shade on most trails.
Light, comfortable shoes you do not mind getting salty.

For the car

A small car vacuum for sand and salt on the drive home.
A roadside kit and tire inflator, since some roads on the island are a long way from help.

Respect the wildlife

Bison and pronghorn are wild animals. Stay at least 25 yards away, keep pets leashed, and pack out everything you bring. Check the park's website for gnat season in late spring, and bring bug spray if you go then.
